The merchant traveled, rode, sailed, flew, but... mostly he traded, as a merchant should. Sometimes luck favored him, other times things didn't go very well. He never tried to make a fortune, never dreamed of a great business. His wife had died many years ago, and his only joy was his beautiful daughter. They spent hours together talking about everything and nothing, smiling, and being happy together.

However, one day, when he returned from another trading expedition, instead of his beloved daughter, he found a plundered room and a message from pirates.
